Since the VW Jetta received a refresh last year with an updated base engine and a facelift that changed it to a sleeker and more stylish ride, the 2023 model has only received a few cosmetic changes over last year. The sport model under the trim GLI will also carry over to 2023 with the same engine.
The 2023 VW Jetta is equipped with a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine boasting 158hp and 184 lb-ft of torque for the base, allowing it to go from 0-100km/h in 7.6 seconds. It comes with a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission with front wheel drive. The combined fuel efficiency sits at 7.0L/100km for the manual and 6.8L/100km for the automatic transmission versions.
The 2023 VW Jetta sports model GLI comes fitted with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, producing 228hp and 258 lb-ft of torque with a combined fuel economy of 7.9L/100km. Doing 0-100km/h in 6.1 seconds, a significant edge over the standard engine.
The 2023 VW Jetta has a touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto pre-installed. The touchscreen comes in two sizes: 20.32cm and 26cm, depending on the trim.
Another new feature, starting with the Comfortline trim, is the Car-Net app which allows you to control many cars' features through the mobile app. These include starting the car remotely, finding the last parked location of the car, providing health reports, and setting up various alerts.
Jetta has several features that make it an excellent competitor over other sedans in its class. The base trim includes heated front seats and steering wheel, a power-adjustable heated door mirror, and LED headlights standard.
For higher trims, Jetta offers dual climate control zones, a Bose speaker system, a wireless charging pad, keyless entry and start, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and adaptive cruise control.
A standout feature of the Jetta is the auto high beam headlights which allow the car to automatically control the range of the high beams by controlling their angle to ensure the headlights don’t dazzle oncoming traffic.
The TSI Highline trim has some unique features, such as a nine-speaker Bose sound system, memory option front seats with added door mirror memory, a refrigerated storage compartment, and a stop/go traffic cruise control system.
The base trim, TSI Trendline, has two different transmissions and a front-wheel drive system, starting at $22,995 for the manual and $24,395 for the automatic transmission.
The next trim, TSI Comfortline, has the previous two transmissions priced at $25,995 and $27,395.
An upgrade to the previous trim is the TSI Highline 8 Tiptronic, which only comes with an automatic transmission at $30,295.
The sport version, TSI GLI, comes in two versions: the TSI GLI six-speed manual transmission and TSI GLI DSG seven-speed automatic transmission, priced at $32,295 and $33,695, respectively.
